Zhongshan approved to set up pilot zone for cross-border e-commerce

On May 6, China State Council issued an official response on agreeing to set up cross-border e-commerce pilot zones in 46 cities and regions including Xiong'an New Area. The official response approved Zhongshan to set up a cross-border e-commerce pilot zone, which means Zhongshan will benefit more from cross-border e-commerce policies.

Prior to this, five cities in Guangdong province including Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Dongguan and Foshan had been approved to set up cross-border e-commerce pilot zones. Now Zhongshan can benefit from the same preferential policies as these cities, which can greatly reduce purchase and logistics costs, greatly shorten the delivery time for consumers' online purchases, bring consumers better and cheaper goods, and provide consumers with a faster and more convenient shopping experience. The establishment of the zone also helps attract more cross-border e-commerce enterprises to enter Zhongshan and expand the industry.

The head of the Zhongshan Bureau of Commerce said that the city will learn from the experiences and adopt the practices of the first four batches of pilot zones, especially from the cities of Guangdong, such as Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Dongguan and Foshan. The new pilot zone will promote the all-round development of cross-border e-commerce.
