Zhongshan sees stable import-export growth in first half

According to Zhongshan Customs, Zhongshan's total import-export value was 120.48 billion yuan in the first half, up 23.8% compared with the same period of last year, with an average annual increase of 0.9% over the last two years.

Zhongshan's export value reached 98.25 billion yuan, increasing by 25.6% from last year and an average annual increase of 1.5% over the last two years. Zhongshan's import value totaled 22.23 billion yuan, up 16.4% from last year and an average decrease of 1.3% over the last two years.

The total volume of imports and exports climbed compared with their respective periods last year for 8 consecutive months. In June, Zhongshan's imports and exports were valued at a combined 20.26 billion yuan, a growth of 9.2% from last June and increasing for 8 consecutive months year-on-year since November 2020.

In the first half this year, Zhongshan's general trading import and export value reached 73.25 billion yuan, an increase of 33.9% and accounting for 60.8% of the total import and export value. The imports and exports of foreign-funded enterprises were valued at 62.63 billion yuan, up 13%, accounting for 52% of the total imports and exports.

Zhongshan's top five trading partners are the United States, the European Union, ASEAN, China's Hong Kong and Japan, with import and export values totaling 23.21, 19.76, 14.14, 10.09 and 7.17 billion yuan, up 31.1%, 22.5%, 21.5%, 19.7% and 13.8% respectively.

In addition, the value of imports and exports between Zhongshan and countries along the Belt and Road and RCEP partners were 29.35 billion yuan and 28.66 billion yuan, up 24.1% and 17.6% respectively.

In the first half, mechanical and electrical product exports were valued at 75.75 billion yuan, growing by 26.9% from last year and accounting for 77.1% of the total export value. Mechanical and electrical product imports valued 13.38 billion yuan, increasing by 13.7% from last year and accounting for 60.2% of total import value.
