Mingyang wind turbines were loaded on a ship bound for Japan.

The typhoon resistant wind turbines, independently developed by Mingyang Smart Energy, a company headquartered in Zhongshan, were recently shipped and dispatched at Tianjin Port, and the ship has arrived in Japan, marking the debut of Chinese offshore wind turbines in the Japanese wind power market.

Located in Nyuzen, Shimoniikawa, Toyama Prefecture in Japan, the project is expected to be completed and put into full operation in the second half of this year, and offshore construction was scheduled to start in early April. "These turbines, which can resist 17-magnitude typhoons, highly meet the needs of Japanese wind farms," said Zhang Qiying, president and CTO of Mingyang Smart Energy, adding that the project is expected to supply electricity to 3,600 local households each year.

The wind turbines were delivered by Mingyang Smart Energy according to Japan's rigorous technical and safety requirements after more than two years of development by the two sides, and have been certified by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI) and Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK). Mingyang Smart Energy is the only Chinese manufacturer among the four offshore wind turbine manufacturers certified in Japan.

This year, Mingyang Smart Energy has been speeding up its overseas operations by expanding cooperation in Europe, South America, Japan and South Korea, and Southeast Asia.
