In August 2017, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Zhongshan increased by 0.1% over July and by 2.0% against the previous year. Food prices rose slightly, among which the egg price went up by 10.8% month on month.

In the first half of August, prices of fresh vegetables remained stable. Since late August, however, the overall vegetable price grew by 0.4% due to the reduced output of fresh vegetables in the local and surrounding areas when typhoons frequently attacked Guangdong. Prices of pork and poultry were stabilizing and picking up, among which the pork price climbed by 0.2%. Influenced by the relation of market supply and demand, the egg price continued to rebound with an increase of 10.8%.

Zhongshan’s CPI in this August was 2.0% higher than that in the last August. Commodities (and services) with noticeable growth of year-on-year prices mainly included liquefied petroleum gas swelling by 16.1% and medical service shooting up by 15.3%, and those with obvious decline of year-on-year prices contained mutton falling off by 14.6% and pork going down by 7.1%.
