A new breakthrough was made on July 13 in the construction of Phase I of the Tanzhou Expressway, and the length of the Sanxiang Section has been further extended. Two-way traffic is open for the 22.9-kilometer expressway.

"The phased opening of the Tanzhou Expressway will decentralize the flow of traffic, so I don't have to get up one hour earlier to avoid the morning rush hour." Mr Liu, a citizen who works in Sanxiang Town and lives in the urban area, praised the construction.

In the first half of 2021, a total of 15.109 billion yuan has been invested in transportation infrastructure in Zhongshan, 26.12% more than last year. All major projects this year have entered the mid-term stage of construction now, and Zhongshan's total investment in land and water transportation infrastructure development ranked first in Guangdong province.
