Kuchong Village, an ancient village in the central area of Zhongshan, has an even longer history than Xiangshan County. According to a historical record of Zhongshan's villages, in 1198 during the Southern Song Dynasty, the Chen clan established the village here. An ancestor of Kuchong Village Chen Tianjue played an important role in the establishment of Xiangshan County.

Kuchong is also a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in Zhongshan. During the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty (1851-1861), many villagers set sail abroad to make a living. The overseas Chinese of the village lived mainly in the United States, Canada, Australia, and other countries.

Chen Jianhao, who lives on Xiawei Street, is a native of Kuchong. Nineteen years ago, he and his wife moved into the house left by his uncle. "We were originally registered permanent residence in Shiqi District and didn't have our own house at first," he said.

Chen Jianhao, who works in construction and carpentry, has carefully maintained the century-old house. The interior layout, door panels, lacquer paintings, glass and etc are well preserved. There are also old photos of his family, making the house a private gallery of overseas Chinese history.
