With the theme "Reading the Bay Area", a reading campaign kicked off  in Sun Yat-sen Memorial Library on the afternoon of September 2. A variety of books representing local charateristics of 11 cities made debut in 12 public libraries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. These books are currently available for readers in the 12 libraries .

In November 2019, the Sun Yat-sen Library of Guangdong Province and Guangzhou Library jointly established the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Public Libraries Alliance. The "Reading the Bay Area" campaign is the first large-scale reading promotion activity launched after the establishment of the alliance.

The campaign includes 3 parts, namely the Book Recommendation Tour, the 21-day City Readathon, and the Fun Reading Photo Exhibition. It will display and share the cultural features of Greater Bay Area cities in many aspects.

The Book Recommendation Tour activity will last until November this year. Member libraries of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Public Libraries Alliance will recommend selected books, beautiful articles and local literature, as well as present books to the public.
