During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, Zhongshan accommodated 103,300 overnight tourists, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%, according to Zhongshan Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau. All local scenic spots received 356,000 tourists, up 1.7%. The tourism revenue for the holiday reached 269 million yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 1.5%.
June 8 marked the third China Cultural Heritage Day, with a theme of “Protecting Revolutionary Cultural Relics and Inheriting Revolution Spirit” this year. A variety of publicity and social education activities were carried out in the Museum of Dr Sun Yat-sen to popularize the awareness of cultural heritage protection.
On the morning of June 7, the Dragon Boat Festival Cultural Experience Day event was held in the Zhongshan Cultural Center, attracting a large number of tourists to appreciate the charm of some Zhongshan intangible cultural heritage projects such as Juxiangyuan Almond Cake making, Shaxi Phoenix Dance, and others.
During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, “Red Education” scenic spots including the Tourism Area of Sun Yat-sen’s Hometown, Yang Yin’s Former Residence and the memorial exhibition hall, Xinhai Revolution Memorial Park, and etc attracted a large number of tourists and citizens. As of 2 pm on June 9, a total of 34,129 tourists visited the Tourism Area of Sun Yat-sen’s Hometown in three days.
Major scenic spots in Zhongshan also launched diverse family tour programs, which were popular among tourists.
