Public benefit training programs, involving national, provincial and municipal intangible cultural heritage (ICH) projects such as Zhongshan Salty Water Song and Xiaolan Embroidery, are being carried out across Zhongshan. Typical ICH heirs and senior instructors have been invited by sponsors to give lectures in a bid to make known to more teenagers these traditional skills of Zhongshan.

For the past days, the rehearsal room of the Dongsheng Town Library was crowded with people in the afternoon. Children who participated in the training course practiced salty water songs under the leadership of Zhou Yanmin, the course organizer and teacher.

"Salty Water Song, one of the national ICH projects, is getting popular these days. Total 61 people signed up for the course this year, most of which are the children of migrant workers. The youngest one is only 3 years old," said Zhou Yanmin.

The training course will lasts for two weeks. It also offers culture classes related to traditional customs in waterside town in addition to Salty Water Song. Mr Huang, parent of a student, said the edutainment course was held not far away from their home. This had given children fun and their parents assurance over safety issues.

Meanwhile, training programs for provincial ICH projects such as Xiaolan Embroidery and Sanjiao Kylin Dance, as well as municipal ICH projects such as Minzhong Rice Bucket Racing, and Shachong Ma's Spear were held in Xiaolan, Sanjiao, Minzhong towns and South District respectively.
