East District Self-service Library, which is located next to Shiqi Central Primary School in Dongwen Road, has opened to public days before. With an ID card and a deposit of 100 yuan, citizens can apply for library card to borrow, return, renew books and do query.

The self-service library covers an area of about 50-60 square meters, equipped with air conditioning, exhaust fans and other facilities. The library is open from 8:00 to 24:00 every day.

Reportedly, the self-service library has a collection of 5,000 books, covering children, education, art, literature, history, geography, medicine, philosophy, agriculture, etc. Citizens can also look up and download e-books and documents through the electronic reading screens (machines).

According to the staff of Zhongshan Library, East District Self-service Library is one of the first smart libraries in the city. There are other 3 libraries of this kind, which are located respectively in West District, South District and Shiqi District, open to public.
