Xu Hongfei, a member of the CPPCC National Committee and director of the Guangzhou Sculpture Institute, visited Zhongshan on April 5 to investigate the revitalization of rural culture.
The investigating group visited Caobian Village, Liaohou Village and Zhan's Garden in South District, as well as the Chinese Rosewood Culture Expo City in Dachong Town to learn about the overseas Chinese culture, ancient village protection, cultural tourism resource development, rural culture preservation and etc.
Xu Hongfei said that Zhongshan boasts rich historical and cultural resources so it is necessary to make use of them to strengthen the integration of rural industries and art and attract more outstanding artists. He said that Zhongshan should increase its support for cultural and creative arts in the countryside and narrow the gap between urban and rural public services. The introduction and education of artistic talent should also be intensified to provide a talent pool for the rural culture revitalization.
It is reported that the "Xu Hongfei 100 Villages Sculpture Art Exhibition" plans to take place in Zhongshan. The sculptures to be displayed are blended with such features as public space and rural culture to present a new power for the rural culture revitalization.
