Steel shell immersed tunnel project of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel passes the review of experts on August 22. Once completion, it will become the first two-way and eight-lane submarine immersed tunnel in the world.

Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel is a world-class super cluster project consisting of bridge, islands, tunnels and subterranean passages. The channel contains a world's first two-way eight-lane submarine immersed tube tunnels which extends about 6.8 kilometers underneath passing Yanjiang Expressway, Dachan Waterway, Shenzhen Airport Secondary Channel and Fanshi Waterway.

At present, the construction of the channel is progressing smoothly. By August 22, about 85.9% (49) of West Artificial Island’s steel cylinders has been settled with vibration technology. The whole installation is expected to be completed in September.
