"Living in this community makes me feel at home." Ms Ou who moved into Qi’anyuan community in late 2016 said happily. So far, over 2,000 households with housing difficulties are accommodated Qi’anyuan community, some of whom are migrant workers who have successfully applied for the public rental houses just as Ms Ou does.

Since 2013, Zhongshan was the first in China to launch the policy that allows migrant workers to apply for public rental houses provided by the government basing on points system. Every year, Municipal Housing Security Office and Migrants Management Office collect houses available, among which eligible applicants with adequate registration points can select the location of their houses in accordance with their needs.

By the end of 2016, 705 applications for public rental houses basing on the points system had been accepted, and 585 of them were qualified for moving into the public rental houses.
