A delegation led by Liu Zheng, a deputy of the Municipal People's Congress from the press circle, paid a visit to the Teicheng Junior High School and Houshan Kindergarten, both located in West District, on the afternoon of January 18. The delegation was there to get a progress update on the "Expansion of Educational Resources," which is one of the "2018 Zhongshan Top 10 Livelihood Projects."

In recent years, West District students have been facing increasingly crowded primary and secondary schools. Since 2016, the district administration has invested 160 million yuan on the construction of three public schools. Namely, these are the Tiecheng Primary School, Tiecheng Junior High School, and Guangfeng Primary School. In 2018, the West District built another public school, the Zhongtai Shangjing Primary School. For 2019-2021, the district also plans to invest 500-600 million yuan on the construction of a junior high school, two primary schools and two public kindergartens in the Caihong and Shalang Areas. 

Statistics show that, in 2018, Zhongshan added 18 public inclusive kindergartens and 20 municipal experimental kindergartens. These measures have allowed the kindergartens to comply with the "Learning and Development Guide for Children Aged 3-6." Furthermore, the city has built, renovated, and expanded 40 public schools; 3 of which have already reached completion. In addition, Zhongshan added 6,135 normalized kindergarten openings for school-aged pupils and 15,285 public compulsory education school openings for students last year.
