May 31 will be the 32nd World No-Tobacco Day. Statistics show that there are about 1 billion smokers in the world, and 6 million people die from tobacco every year.

In China, the number of smokers exceeds 300 million presently. Over 1 million people die from tobacco-related diseases each year, which causes huge social and economic losses.

According to The 2018 Tobacco Prevalence Surveillance Report, up to 20.4% of adults in Zhongshan smoke.

So far, all major hospitals in Zhongshan have opened smoking cessation clinics. Among them, Zhongshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine receives more than 200 smoking patients per year on average, most of which are middle-aged and young people.
