On June 17, in Huangpu, workers were adjusting and testing the inhaul cable of the Guizhou Waterway Bridge on Huangpu Expressway. The main section of the bridge has been completed and is expected to open to traffic by the end of June.

It is reported that the section between Linglan Road and Nansan Road on the Huangpu section of Huangpu Expressway was put into use on August 3, 2018. At present, the remaining 2.6km of the Huangpu section (including the milestone Guizhou Waterway Bridge) is still under construction. It is expected to reach completion by the end of July.

After the opening of the new bridge, traffic will be diverted from Dayan Bridge (the old road), which will start construction at that time.

The Guizhou Waterway Bridge is about 700 meters in length, with a span of 133 meters. It is the single-tower cable-stayed bridge with the largest span in Zhongshan.

The 18.96-km Huangpu Expressway, with a total investment of 2.697 billion yuan, runs through Huangpu, Fusha, Gangkou and Dongsheng towns from north to south. Once completed, it will alleviate the south-north traffic pressure of the National Road G105 and greatly shorten the distance from Zhongshan to Shunde District, Foshan.
