The West District Bureau of Social Affairs recently released the Supportive Methods for the Commonweal Street in West District, saying that in the future, Taikang Road, where the West District Public Welfare Park is sited, is expected to be built into the first diversified commonweal street in Zhongshan. Social workers, volunteers and other social forces will gather on this road.

Over the past two years, a total of 6 commonweal projects including the Public Welfare Supermarket, the Love Mall, the Public Welfare Canteen, Service Center for the Disabled and the 24-hour Convenience Service Station have been established on Taikang Road, said Zhao Yanlin, principal of the West District Public Welfare Park.

According to the Supportive Methods, legal social organizations or enterprises are eligible for establishing commonweal projects on the road. These projects should be focused on solving social problems and boosting social benefits. "We look forward to services (e.g. psychological counseling) that we don't currently have," said Zhao Yanlin.

Projects launched on the street may enjoy subsidies in basic decoration and rent (for three years) provided by the West District Bureau of Social Affairs. Local authorities will also regularly invite experts from universities and experienced industry professionals to offer "one-to-one" support and supervision.
