Updated: 2019-07-17    Source: Zhongshan Daily Large Medium Small Print

With immediate effect, Zhongshan will take a three-month special control action against traffic violations by motorcycles and electric bicycles. Focus will be on investigating and dealing with running the red lights, driving against the traffic, illegal shuttling and lane changes. This action will cover the whole city and be implemented day and night. It is regarded as the ever most severe harnessing measure against motorcycles and e-bikes.

The special action will last until September 30. The 10th, 20th and 30th day of each month are kept aside as the unified action days. The key periods are from 8pm to 10pm and from 0am to 2am. In addition, major towns and districts should take no less than two centralized actions a week, while others take no less than one.

The special action focuses on investigating and punishing traffic violations as follows:

  - Motorcycle: 9 types of serious traffic violations, including drunk driving, unlicensed driving, fake license plate, intentional number plate shielding , absence of number-plate, overloading, violation of prohibited signs, driving against traffic, and driving on the wrong lane.

  - Over-standard electric bicycles: driving against  traffic.

  - Electric bicycles: driving against traffic, violation of traffic lights.

  - Non-motor vehicles: driving on the wrong lane.

Traffic police warns that apart from these targeted investigations and punishment, the "iron riding" patrol will join in this action as well. Meanwhile,  drivers who seriously violate traffic will be exposed to the public with high-definition technology.
