"The Promotional Plan for Qijiang New Town of Zhongshan" was recently approved by the Zhonghshan Land Planning Committee.

Qijiang New Town is now positioned as a new urban central area, putting people first. The area gives priority to the ecology, attaches importance to technological and financial innovation, focuses on the introduction of innovation resources, prioritizes the development of science and technology and industry innovation. The aim is to create an area that integrates industry, service, life, leisure, landscape, and transportation. The success of this project will lift Zhongshan's primacy index, improve the function of urban areas, and enhance Zhongshan's comprehensive service capacity, industrial competitiveness, and environmental quality for each district.

The planned area of Qijiang New Town covers 33 square kilometers, including East District, Shiqi District, Torch Development Zone, and part of Gangkou Town.

In the future, the managers of Qijiang New Town, centered around the Headquarters Economy Zone, will manage to transform it into the new central urban area of Zhongshan, new Zhongshan North Station, and Jiangbei Technological Innovation Industry Gathering Area. Special functions such as the central business headquarters economy, TOD business, urban integrated services, science and education park for universities and colleges, an innovative industrial park, cultural innovation industry park, cultural leisure tourism area, and recreational and ecological residential community will be added.

Additionally, a number of super high-rise buildings are planned to be built within the Headquarters Economy Zone. The highest of these buildings will feature a height of no less than 480 meters, and it will be located in the Shiqi Area of the Headquarters Economy Zone. This construction will become the exciting new landmark for the development of Zhongshan.

In the future, a number of rail lines will traverse Qijiang New Town. With the extension of Guangzhou Metro Line 18 to the Zhongshan Station, Qijiang New Town is about to boast the densest concentration of rail traffic lines in Zhongshan.

Future plans for Qijiang New Town, an area known for the convergence of public services, will include premium service facilities, such as the Intelligent City Management and Operation Center, Science and Art Exhibition Hall, Culture and Art Park, National Fitness Stadium, Waterfront Sports Park, leading-edge general hospitals, and international primary and secondary schools. These state-of-the-art facilities and services will improve the city center service level and convert this area into the new international central urban area on the Greater Bay Area level.
