From August 1, trains on the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Mass Rapid Transit (GZMRT) and CRH  trains on Jiangmen-Zhanjiang Railway have implemented an electronic ticketing system. These two railway lines are also the second batch of lines governed by the Guangzhou Railway which implements the electronic ticketing system, following the Hainan Roundabout High-speed Railway.

In order to implement the electronic ticketing system, 8 self-service ticket checking machines have been added in the Zhongshan Station waiting room. There are presently 20 self-service ticket checking machines for passengers to use.

"After implementing the electronic ticketing system, a face recognition system will be introduced, but the schedule is to be determined," said the staff.

According to this staff, paper tickets are canceled after the implementation of the electronic ticketing system. Passengers can only enter the station by using valid certificates such as their ID cards. It is worth noting that the receipt issued by the ticket counter only serves as the passenger information reminder rather than a ticket voucher.

Here is another convenient way for passengers to enter the station and get on the train. Passengers can scan QR codes to enter the station by simply purchasing tickets and accessing the QR code of tickets on "12306" App on their mobiles.

Railway lines implementing this electronic ticketing system are Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway and Jiangmen-Zhanjiang Railway.  This means that other high-speed trains (high-speed trains at Zhongshan Station) continue to use paper tickets.

After the implementation of the electronic ticketing system,  certificates that can be identified include: second-generation ID cards, permanent resident permits for foreigners, residence permits for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents, e-passports, and exit-entry permits for travelling to and from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
