The 11th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities of the People's Republic of China was held in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province from September 8 to 16. The Zhongshan shuttlecock team, also known as the China Shuttlecock Training Center representative team, won the men's team, women's team, and women's doubles champions out of four events representing Guangdong Province.

On September 18, Chen Xudong, Secretary of the Zhongshan Municipal Party Committee, met with the Zhongshan shuttlecock athletes who had returned with honors from the Ethnic Games.

On behalf of the Zhongshan Municipal Party Committee and Zhongshan People's Government, Chen Xudong warmly congratulated all of the Zhongshan shuttlecock athletes on their outstanding achievements, and expressed heartfelt thanks to the coaches and athletes for their hard work. Chen hoped that athletes from Zhongshan will be able to continue to compete with athletes of all ethnic groups in China, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and athletes from all countries in the world. These efforts will create greater contributions that will advance China's sports culture while promoting international exchanges and worldwide unity.

The China Shuttlecock Training Center Team, formerly known as the Xiaolan Shuttlecock Team, was established in March of 1999. It has won numerous awards in domestic and international competitions. In consideration of its influence and contribution, the China Shuttlecock Association and Xiaolan People's Government reached an agreement in February 2002 to jointly build the China Shuttlecock Training Center in Xiaolan, which was also named "The Home of Shuttlecock in China."

As of September 2019, the China Shuttlecock Training Center represented China in ten world shuttlecock championships, where its athletes won 29 world champions, 30 Asian champions and 266 national champions.
