The police force of Minzhong Town reported on October 31 that they successfully detected an extraordinarily serious case of frozen meat smuggling, apprehending 14 suspects and seizing 730 tons of smuggled frozen meat worth 15 million yuan.

In early August this year, the Minzhong Public Security Bureau and the customs department detected the activities of smuggling frozen meat at the Dongsheng Dock of Xiaolan Waterway in Dongsheng Town. The bureau immediately launched a special investigation. 

On the early morning of August 28, the Minzhong Public Security Bureau, with the assistance of the police from the Special Police Detachment of the Zhongshan Public Security Bureau, successfully arrested 14 people involved in the case, including 3 crew members, and seized a transport ship and 6 transport trucks, as well as a large number of frozen meat smuggled from the United States, Brazil, Germany and other countries.

A total of 730 tons of frozen meat were found in 27 containers on the ship, with a total value of 15 million yuan.

According to the relevant police officer, the frozen meat package only has a description in English, and the crew could not provide information on the source of the meat, which almost entered the market.

The people involved, frozen meat seized and vessels involved were recently handed over to the customs authorities.
