The National Academy of Economic Strategy, CASS, and UN-Habitat on November 12 jointly released the "Global Urban Competitiveness Report 2019-2020: The Changing Situation of the World's Cities in 300 Years".

Researchers selected 1,006 cities from around the globe with a population of more than 500,000 as their sample group. Measured in this report are universal indicators of urban economic competitiveness that make an accurate assessment of these cities' performances in global urban economic competitiveness.

The report lists the 200 most economically competitive cities in the world; an impressive 39 of those cities are in China. An additional list of the 200 most sustainable cities in the world, including 31 Chinese cities, was also released.

The 200 Cities by Globally Sustainable Competitive list ranks Zhongshan 21st within China and 149th in the world.

Sustainable competitiveness is primarily reflected in the scale, level, and growth of each city's welfare of residents, and it also involves such aspects as economy, society, ecology, innovation and global connections.
