On November 19, the Zhongshan Chorus Week, theme of "Me and My Motherland" to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, came to a close at the Zhongshan Culture & Art Center.

During the Zhongshan Chorus Week, 19 choir teams from home and abroad were invited to perform memorable and heartfelt Chinese and foreign chorus songs, which were chosen to best express the appreciation and blessings for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

As the highlight of the event, the original large-scale symphonic poetic drama "Mythology of China" was performed at the closing ceremony. A total of 8 outstanding chorus teams, from cities in the Greater Bay Area, performed this magnificent work together. It was the most memorable way of bringing the Zhongshan Chorus Week to a successful conclusion.

The drama was written by Zheng Jisi, a Zhongshan lyricist, and composed by Gan Lin, a renowned composer. It narrates 5 of the most representative Chinese ancient myths, including "The Dawn of World," "Nvwa Mends the Sky", "Quafoo Chasing after the Sun," "Jingwei Reclamation", and "Chang'e Flying to the Moon". The entire performance lasted for two hours, and it was one of the largest symphonic choral works in China to date.
