In the early morning, sunshine fell on the mottled walls of the old city. A group of volunteers in white work clothes led a group of small animals to walk and exercise near the Yanling Road in turn. These small animals were all once abandoned by their old families, but fortunately, they have been adopted by those benevolent-spirited people.

SPCA-ZS (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Zhongshan), located in Yanling Road, Shiqi District, is a nongovernmental animal protection organization established in 2011. A group of like-minded benevolent-spirited people got together because of their shared interests, and started their journey to help those in need.

Through daily operation of pet shops, sales of pet products, pet care services, pet adoption, etc, the organization has made small profits, all of which have been used for the treatment and expenses of stray cats and dogs. Today, SPCA-ZS has taken in more than 100 homeless cats and dogs of different breeds.
