The Guangdong Commendation Conference for the Fight Against COVID-19 was held at Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center on the afternoon of October 21. A total of 33 individuals, 11 uiits and 5 grass-roots Party organizations from Zhongshan were commended.

"It is such an honor to be awarded the title of 'Outstanding Individual in the Fight Against COVID-19 of Guangdong'. This honor shall be shared by my teammates," said Chen Zhiwei, a doctor of the emergency department of Zhongshan People's Hospital Nanlang Branch.

After the outbreak of COVID-19, Chen Zhiwei took the initiative in going to Hubei to serve as the captain of the third batch of Zhongshan medical teams assisting Hubei. Under his leadership, more than 50 patients in Songzi People's Hospital were cured and discharged from hospital in just 25 days.

In this conference, the Zhongshan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital was awarded the commendation of "Outstanding Unit in the Fight Against COVID-19 of Guangdong" and "Outstanding Grass-roots Party Organization in the Fight Against COVID-19 of Guangdong". After the outbreak of COVID-19, the hospital quickly selected 4 prestigious doctors to form a professional TCM group, who all participated in fighting SARS in 2003.

The hospital also formulated a traditional Chinese medicine prescription for the prevention of COVID-19. Herbs were decocted and delivered to the front-line medical staff of Zhongshan Second People's Hospital, the national COVID-19 defense base, and personnel across multiple town and district institutions. At the same time, prevention instructions were announced to the public, which received praise from citizens.
