This October marks the 11th national "Respect Old Month". It is known from the Zhongshan Municipal Office on Aging that the average life expectancy in Zhongshan in 2019 was 80.93, higher than the national average of 77.3.

At present, there are 114 centenarians in Zhongshan, 23 more than the same period last year, including 18 males and 96 females.

The top three districts with the largest number of centenarians in Zhongshan are Shiqi District (13), East District (10), and Dachong Town (9).

Mrs Wu and Mrs Xu who live in East District are the oldest registered residents in Zhongshan, both are 108 years old.
