The 12th China Folk Art Festival to Open Monday in Zhongshan

The 12th China Folk Art Festival, together with the 2020 Xiaolan Chrysanthemum Fair, will be held on Monday, November 23rd in Xiaolan Town, Zhongshan.

The China Folk Art Festival is a large-scale national cultural exchange event sponsored by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Chinese Folk Literature and Folk Art Association, which is held every two years.

Themed as “Flowers in Chrysanthemum City and Winds in Xiangshan”, the event includes a grand opening ceremony, square dance and folk song performances for the 15th “Mountain Flower Awards and Outstanding Folk Art Performances” preliminary evaluation, a folk culture panel and cultural heritage research project, the 3rd Guangdong Villager Painting Exhibition, and five volunteer-led art performances in local communities.

34 expert folk artist teams from 25 cities and consisting of various ethnic groups will compete for the preliminary evaluation of the 15th “Mountain Flower Awards and Outstanding Folk Art Performances”.

Meanwhile, Zhongshan will also organize national-level intangible cultural heritage icons such as the “Drunken Dragon Dance” and “Salt Water Songs”, to participate in art festival competitions and performances.

Folk art teams from all over the country will go to Dongqu District, Xiaolan Town, Huangpu Town, Shaxi Town, and Henglan Town in Zhongshan to perform their art.
