Phase III of the Guangzhou-Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway (except for the highway-railway combined section) opened to traffic on December 28. Toll stations along the expressway, namely Xiaolan North, Dongfeng, Nantou North, Huangpu and Fangma, were put into use simultaneously.

The newly opened section spans 18 kilometers (with 16 kilometers in Zhongshan). It will provide great convenience to residents of Xiaolan, Dongfeng, Nantou, Huangpu and other towns.

Phase III of the GZJ Expressway runs east to west, with a total length of 24 kilometers. It starts from Tianlian Interchange which was the focus of the first two phases, passes through Xiaolan, Dongfeng, Nantou and Huangpu towns in Zhongshan, and finally ends in Dagang Town, Nansha District, Guangzhou City. It has 6 lanes in either direction, and the speed limit is 100 km/h.

It took about 10 years to build the GZJ Expressway. Phase I and II were completed and opened to traffic in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
