The "bottleneck road", Yuebin Road, which has long been long-awaited by residents in Shagang District, was opened on December 29, 2020. "We will no longer have to worry about being stuck in front of the community any more during rush hours," said a citizen.

In 2020, Zhongshan made remarkable achievements in unblocking the "microcirculation" of the urban traffic internally and laying out rail transit network externally to create a half-hour living circle in the Greater Bay Area. Last year, the total investment in Zhongshan's transportation projects was about 25.802 million yuan, accounting for one eighth of the provincial highway and waterway project investment in land and water, up 106% from last year. And its growth rate ranked first in Guangdong.

In recent days, Ding Jianlong, a deputy to the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, also Party committee secretary of and chairman of the Guangzhou Metro Group Co Ltd, revealed that the construction of Guangzhou Metro Line 18's south extension section is expected to start by the end of 2021. The project will extend southward to Zhongshan and Zhuhai, and it may open to traffic in 2024 or 2025 to become a main south-north traffic artery in the Greater Bay Area.
