Zhongshan's minimum living allowance up 74% in 13th Five-Year Plan period

According to 2021 Zhongshan Civil Affairs Working Conference held on February 1, from 2016 to 2020, the minimum living allowance in Zhongshan was raised to 1,100 yuan/month from 629 yuan/month, up 74.8% in total, with an average annual growth of 18.7%.

At present, the minimum living allowance of Zhongshan is second only to Shenzhen across Guangdong province, ranking first in similar areas.

As of December 2020, there were 6,119 people in 3,154 households relying on subsistence allowances, and 914 people in 410 low-income households in Zhongshan. A total of 74.94 million yuan of subsistence allowances were granted. Zhongshan has granted assistance 9,722 times in total, benefiting 6,348 households, and granted temporary relief funds totaling approximately 24.2 million yuan. The average value of the assistance amount increased up to 2,489 yuan, 27% more than the 2019. During the COVID-19 epidemic period, temporary price subsidies worth 10.601 million yuan were granted.
