On December 20, above the Henghai Road section of the Qijiang River in South District, the last I-shaped beam was installed on the construction trestle for the Qijiang River Bridge. This marks the closure phase of trestle construction, and the steel truss of the main bridge will be installed next February.
The Qijiang River Bridge spans over the Qijiang River. It is about 1,340 meters long, with the main bridge 153 meters long. It is a double-deck steel truss arch bridge and is scheduled to be completed and open to traffic on September 30, 2022.
The double-deck bridge was rebuilt on its orginal site. The lower deck is part of the South Outer Ring Road, while the upper one is part of the Zhongshan-Kaiping Expressway. It will be the first double-deck bridge in the downtown area of Zhongshan.
