The Longxing North Road overpass and Yuxiang Road tunnel, two key projects of the Guzhen Expressway (aka Shagu Highway) construction undertaken by Road and Bridge South China Engineering Co Ltd were completed on December 25.

According to the latest construction schedule, the Guzhen Expressway main line could be completed one year ahead and is expected to open to traffic before the 2022 Spring Festival.

Guzhen Expressway starts from the flyover connecting Shagu Highway and Gushen Highway, passes through Guzhen, Henglan and Shaxi towns, and ends at the intersection of the National Highway G105 and Shagu Highway, with a total length of about 16.3 kilometers.

"Upon the opening of Guzhen Expressway, it will only take 25 minutes for citizens to reach Zhongshan downtown from Guzhen." A spokesperson for the project said.
