After 22 hours of operation, the pouring of the last main pier cap on the main section of Xijiang Grand Bridge, part of the Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway expansion project, was completed around 6 am on February 28. Since then, construction on Xijiang Grand Bridge will transfer from the underwater foundation stage to the above-water main tower stage.

More than 1,400 workers have been involved in the project, and the construction is on the right track.

The main Xijiang Grand Bridge is a three-tower concrete beam cable-stayed bridge with three main piers. At present, the construction of the first pylon pillars of the other two main pier towers have been completed. It is expected that the first main tower of the main bridge will be completed in October this year.

By the end of this year, the three main towers of Xijiang Grand Bridge will seal their tops. The project is planned to open to traffic simultaneously with the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge in 2024.
