The result of The 2017 Guangdong Specialized Town Evaluation in Collaborative Innovation Development was announced recently. Total 47 out of 434 specialized towns were rated “excellent”. Seven towns and districts of Zhongshan city including Torch Zone, Nantou, Dongfeng, Xiaolan, Gangkou, Dongsheng and Minzhong were in the list.

So far, Zhongshan has 18 provincial-level specialized towns.

Reportedly, in 2017, Zhongshan added 681 high-tech enterprises, 8 new-type R&D institutions and 194 engineering technology R&D centers. The number of business incubators and maker spaces grows to 53, with 1,022 enterprises under incubation.

Meanwhile, the city’s invention patents authorization quantity rose 59.28% to 841 in 2017 from 528 in 2015.
