The approach towards the 'Minzhong Fish' brand

As the saying goes: the work for the year is best begun in spring. Right after the Spring Festival holiday, Minzhong Town which has about 30,000 mu of aquaculture area resumed busy working.

Liu Ying, director of Minzhong Fishery Association, was interviewed in the Duobao Eco-fishery Co Ltd. "The main farmed species in Minzhong include the four famous domestic fishes. Since last year, many shrimp farmers turned to cultivate snakehead, leading to an abundant harvest but also a dropped price," speaking of being a aquaculture farmer, Liu had a lot of mixed feelings.

Minzhong Fishery Association (MFA), founded in late 2017, now has nearly 90 members. Its aim is to change the previous scattered farming mode and establish a market-oriented, branded, normalized development platform for the farmers.

In March 2018, MFA had applied for the "Minzhong Fish" trademark, which will be approved in the upcoming one or two months, Liu said. "In an effort to promote the rural revitalization strategy, we hope to build a regional characteristic brand. The 'Minzhong Fish' is not just representing a single species, but a combination of multiple traditional aquatic products in Minzhong," Liu added.
