Rows of huge pumpkins were seen lying in the greenhouse of the Zhongshan Graduates Entrepreneurship Agricultural Incubation Base in Xinjian Village, Minzhong Town.

"It weighs 127 kg, with a diameter of 75 cm. Its maximum circumference reaches 2.35 m. It takes at least four men to lift it," said Liu Shuyi, a young entrepreneur born in the 1990s. Last year, she introduced this pumpkin variety from the Zhongshan Agricultural Science and Technology Promotion Center and she then launched her "Pumpkin Growing Program."

Under the guidance of technicians, Liu planted 63 giant pumpkin seedlings, and eventually harvested more than 40 plants. These pumpkins have added to a beautiful landscape and attracted quite a few visitors to come to the base.

On March 1, one of the visitors could not wait to order a pumpkin from Liu. He planed to showcase the giant pumpkin at his company's entrance. Liu said over 20 giant pumpkins have been pre-ordered. 

Liu added that last year she successfully signed up to enter the incubation base and started her career as an agricultural entrepreneur. She has enjoyed various preferential policies in terms of rent exemption, equipment and materials allowances, and more provided to her by the base.

It has been reported that the Minzhong Township Government plans to earmark over 64 million yuan for promoting rural revitalization as well as encouraging innovation and business start-ups between 2018 to 2025. At the same time, the local authority will actively guide villagers and farmers to devote themselves to the development of emerging industries, such as rural tourism and "Internet Plus Agriculture."
