Union Optech (Zhongshan) Co Ltd recently disclosed that it planned to sign an investment and cooperation agreement with the Management Committee of Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Development Zone to get engaged in investment and construction projects. It will happen in the Optics Valley Modern Service Industrial Park of East Lake High-Tech Development Zone. The total investment will be no less than 200 million yuan.

As per the disclosed agreement, Union Optech will register an independent legal firm and set up its second headquarters in China in the park. It will mainly research and produce four kinds of products, including the new type of laser display imaging products, infrared thermal imaging products, virtual (augmented) reality AR products, and smart robot systems.

According to the project proposal, Union Optech plans to divide the construction of the R&D center in Wuhan into two phases. The first phase will be completed by 2020. It will mainly focus on the preparatory work for the construction of the R&D center and opening up business in Wuhan. Besides, the center will be also engaged in research, development, production and sales of four types of products. 

From 2021 to 2024, the second phase will unfold. The company planned to invest more than 200 million yuan on the production and sales of the new type of infrared products and smart robot systems.

Union Optech predicts the total output of the Wuahn headquarters will exceed 1 billion yuan by 2024.
