UESTC, Zhongshan Institute will welcome this year's freshmen the upcoming weekend. An intelligent system that was co-developed by Zhongshan Institute and a local company will be used for freshman registration and is expected to save half of the manpower and shorten the waiting time.

In June, the School of Electronic Information of Zhongshan Institute signed a contract with Zhongshan Yunxing Information Technology Co Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "Yunxing Technology") to start university-enterprise cooperation.

The project, based on the "Cloudwalk Face Recognition Module", an agent product of Yunxing Technology, is led by Meng Qingyuan, a teacher of the School of Electronic Information, and his team. It focuses on developing face recognition-based dormitory, laboratory and library access control systems, residence community management system, and other products.

The ready-to-use intelligent freshman registration system is the first product of the cooperation. With this smart device, new students can finish the registration in just a few seconds. Facing the camera, students can find their personal information, along with welcoming words, appeared on the screen. Then they just need to manually print the form and complete the data check.

A new dormitory access control system will also be applied to some dormitories in late September.
