Two self-help stations called "Food Banks" operated by a well-known fast food chain were put into use in Zhongshan on May 11 to provide food for citizens in need.

The "Food Bank" is a six-level refrigerator storing different foods. Stickers saying "Cherish Food", "No Waste" and "Rational Use" are attached on its sides. The unlocked refrigerator is convenient for people in need to use it at any time.

The idea of the "Food Bank" is a charity activity originating from European and American countries and regions, which aims to reduce food waste and collect food that cannot be fully consumed for those who are short of food.

"It is a good way to save food and help those in need", said a citizen surnamed Huang.
