It was cold on March 8. But the Huangpu Port was bustling in biting winds. Container trucks went in and out, while the cranes were lifting up containers onto the cargo ships heading to Hong Kong then to the world.

“In the first two months of the year, the container throughput of Huangpu Port increased by about 8 times.” Said excitedly Hou Rixian, managing director of Huangpu Port Cargo Joint Venture Company.

National second-class Huangpu Port sees rapid growth in container throughput since opened on December 26, 2016. According to Mr Hou, by the end of February this year, major clients such as Galanz, Midea and Changhong had exported goods through Huangpu Port. “We plan to send out 50 to 60 thousand trade containers this year, and make it 100 to 120 thousand in 2019 to 2020.”
