The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was officially opened to traffic six months ago. It is learned from the Zhongshan Customs that companies located in Zhongshan transported imported and exported goods valued at over 2.907 billion yuan across Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge during the first quarter of this year. This figure represents a significant upward trend.

According to Mr Chen, manager of Kalex Multi-layer Circuit Boards (Zhongshan) Ltd, since their company began transporting goods to Hong Kong over the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge last December, all of their goods have been transported across this bridge. It has been estimated that 28% of transportation costs can be reduced while saving 30 to 60 minutes per trip. In addition, each month they are able to transport goods worth nearly 20 million dollars on forty-fifty trucks by utilizing the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

Zhongshan Customs said that the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, linking Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, can substantially reduce the overland transportation time from Hong Kong to the west coast of the Pearl River. The opening of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has better facilitated logistics service providers in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and more Zhongshan companies have chosen to transport their goods over this bridge.

With the further promotion of such reform measures as nationwide customs clearance integration, paperless customs clearance, and Guangdong speedy overland customs clearance, companies in Zhongshan will be able to import and export goods directly from route using the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. At the moment, companies are able to import and export goods using either Huanggang Port or the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge by submitting their on-line applications.
