The Zhongshan-Mexico Investment and Trade Promotion Event was held on June 3 in Mexico City. At the event, Guangdong Galanz Microwave Household Appliances Manufacturing Co Ltd and MABE signed a trade cooperation contract, and the Zhongshan Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Cantonese Business Alliance in Mexico signed a strategic cooperation agreement on investment and trade.

Zhongshan has long established a cordial relationship with Mexico. Zhongshan City and Culiacan City of Mexico have become "twin cities" since 2012; the ancestral home of Mr Ismael Sergio Ley Lopez, former Mexican Ambassador to China, is in Zhongshan's Shaxi Town; 70% of Mexican Chinese living in western Mexico are from Zhongshan and Jiangmen.

The profound friendship suggests great potential for economic and trade development in Zhongshan and Mexico, where both import and export have seen strong growth momentum. In 2018, Zhongshan's export to Mexico totaled 7.5 billion yuan, an increase of 10.24% year on year, and import from Mexico added up to 420 million yuan, an increase of 82.83% year on year.
