Chen Xudong, Secretary of Zhongshan Municipal Party Committee, recently led the Zhongshan delegation to Europe for economic and trade exchanges. He noted that we should follow the trend of foreign trade market diversification, promote opening-up and innovative cooperation from all aspects, and elevate stable foreign trade growth and high-quality economic development.

From June 5 to 7, the delegation visited Germany as the first stop.

It is reported that Zhongshan has always maintained friendly exchanges with Germany. German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier paid his state visit to China last December, during which he visited Zhongshan to inspect the Sino-German cooperative vocational training base.

So far, Germany has 24 investment projects in Zhongshan, with gross assets totaling $172 million. The investors include Metro, ThyssenKrupp and other Global 500 companies. The Sino-German Biomedical Industrial Park built in Zhongshan is one of the five key parks for partnership in biotechnology and pharmaceutical sector between China and Germany, where a number of German-funded projects such as Bio-Gene, UTC and Creative Medical settled.

In Germany, Zhongshan delegation visited the VDE Testing and Certification Institute, Merck Group, Ledvance, BMW and other internationally renowned enterprises, as well as European Molecular Biology Laboratory's global headquarters, Sino-German Science Park, and other institutions.

Based on exchanges and in-depth consultations, Zhongshan signed a number of cooperation projects with relevant parties in Germany.

Zhongshan Bureau of Commerce signed a strategic cooperation agreement with VDE Testing and Certification Institute. Both sides will build an innovative public technology service platform to improve Zhongshan's testing and certification capabilities.

National Health Technology Park, QuaCell Biotechnology Co Ltd and Sartorius (Shanghai) Trading Co Ltd signed a memorandum of cooperation . They will jointly build the first domestic CDMO platform for biological medicine based on the QbD (Quality by Design) concept. This will provide solutions in technique development and commercial production for both domestic and foreign biomedical enterprises.

Perfect (China) Co Ltd signed a cooperation agreement with Sino-German Science Park. Both sides will introduce Solmic microsphere technology and other world-leading technologies to explore cooperation in such areas as high-quality health products and cosmetics.
