The upgraded China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement was implemented on August 20. Zhongshan Customs on the same day issued the first new China-ASEAN Certificate of Origin (C/O) to Guangdong Galanz Microwave Household Appliances Manufacturing Co LTD.
With its C/O, Galanz's shipment of microwave ovens, worth 89,900 yuan, are to be exported to Vietnam. These microwave ovens will enjoy zero tariff preference to importing countries, while saving about 9,000 yuan of tariff.
According to the revised China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, companies are now allowed to apply for more than 20 products in one C/O, said a business expert of Zhongshan Customs. This will bring greater convenience to small and medium-sized companies in doing export business.
In 2018, Zhongshan Customs issued 20,842 C/O under the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, totaling $860 million worth of export goods. The new certificates will allow enterprises to enjoy about $81.32 million worth of ASEAN import tariff reduction.
