Zhongshan's imports and exports up 5.3% in first 9 months

According to the statistics Zhongshan Customs recently released, Zhongshan's total imports and exports from January to September this year reached 181.55 billion yuan, up 5.3% over the same period last year. 

Exports totaled 146.84 billion yuan, a rise of 11.1%, while imports totaled 34.71 billion yuan, a drop of 13.7%. The growth rates of both exports and imports were higher than those of Guangdong Province. 

In the first 9 months, total imports and exports of Zhongshan-based companies to the United States stood at 34.81 billion yuan, down 1.3% year on year. Exports rose 0.6% to 33.6 billion yuan and imports dropped 35% to 1.21 billion yuan. 

The totals for the imports and exports of Zhongshan companies to the European Union, ASEAN, Japan, and Hong Kong reached 32.83 billion yuan, 21.9 billion yuan, 11.41 billion yuan and 17.84 billion yuan respectively. These figures represented an increase of 18.6%, 7.7% and 0.6% as well as a drop of 0.3%, respectively. 

Imports and exports to emerging markets in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East totaled 12.67 billion yuan, 4.45 billion yuan, and 7.77 billion yuan, a leap of 7.7%, 50% and 20.7%, respectively. 

From January to September, trade volume between Zhongshan companies and Malaysia, Vietnam and other countries along the Belt and Road amounted to 44.02 billion yuan, an increase of 9.3% over the same period of last year. The primary trade commodities were mechanical and electrical products, such as semiconductor modules, air conditioners, and lighting fixtures.
