The Zhuhai Highway Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) marked the first anniversary of its official opening on October 24. According to the statistics of Zhongshan Customs, from January to September this year, enterprises in Zhongshan imported and exported more than 7.03 billion yuan worth of goods through the HZMB.

According to Manager Chen of Jielishi Circuit Board (Zhongshan) Co Ltd, since the middle of this year, all of their products have been shipped to Hong Kong via the HZMB. The customs clearance process is smooth, which saves both transportation costs and time.

"We have about $20 million of goods to ship to Hong Kong every month. It used to take at least twice as long to travel to Huanggang, and transportation costs were high. Now we spend about 1.5 hours less time per vehicle and 28% less transportation costs via the bridge." Manager Chen said that the company would 200,000 to 300,000 yuan of transportation fee per year.

At present, mutual recognition of inspection result of goods vehicle between Guangdong and Hong Kong has been formally implemented to avoid re-inspection and facilitate customs clearance. Normally, the time from entry to exit of the vehicle is generally no more than 3 minutes, and the average time for vehicles that do not require checking and inspection at the checkpoint is less than 10 seconds.
