Golden, plump and appetizing mooncakes with lotus seed paste and egg yolk were freshly baked one after another in the manufacturing workshop of a local food enterprise on August 21.
"This year, we keep up with the market demand and launch new flavors of mooncakes, such as green tea and black truffle, in addition to the traditional lotus paste, sweetened bean paste and five kernels, and they are popular among customers overseas," said Pan Xiaomin, sales manager of Emperor Sovereign Food (Zhongshan) Co Ltd. Earlier in July, the company exported mooncakes to Thailand for the first time.
Zhongshan has been doing mooncake export for over 60 years. This year, as of August 20, Zhongshan has exported 718 tons of mooncakes worth 67.35 million yuan through Zhongshan Customs, up 12.9% and 13.2% respectively year on year. The products are widely sold in over 30 countries and regions worldwide.
