Zhongshan home appliances gain popularity overseas

"By the end of July, we had achieved 63% of our annual target and expect a 30%-40% growth in exports for the whole year." Liu Chenghua, comprehensive department manager of Chinabest Home Appliance's overseas marketing center, is confident about the company's export performance.

Liu added that since 2021, Chinabest's new factory areas with intelligent production workshops have been put into use one after another. As of January 2023, all new factory areas with a total investment of 300 million yuan have been put into use, providing solid guarantee for the company's export business.

Statistics show that from January to August this year, the export value of Zhongshan's household appliances reached 44.12 billion yuan, up 24.7% year-on-year, with a net increase of 8.75 billion yuan. Local enterprises have been showcasing the strength of "Made in Zhongshan" to the global market through product innovation and overseas exhibitions.

Liu said the company does not have a special cross-border e-commerce department, and most of its clients were developed at exhibitions. Besides the Canton Fair, the company also connects with existing clients and develops new ones through overseas exhibitions.

During the just-ended IFA Berlin, some Zhongshan enterprises took part in the event as visitors. Songze Lighting was one of them.

This is an enterprise that produces and sells solar energy products, with over 70% of its products sold to European, African and Southeast Asian countries. Li Zhenhong, general manager of Songze Lighting, stated that visiting the exhibition helped them learn about popular products and explore a broader market. Additionally, they had visited local retail markets to understand local consumption concepts and using habits so as to adjust product design and packaging.

Exhibitions help enterprises open up sales channels, and products are fundamental to attract customers. "Customers would like to see new things at every exhibition. This requires us to constantly launch new products," said Liu Chenghua, adding that Chinabest releases new products at key moments every year.
