With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, mooncake producers in Zhongshan are hitting their peak export season.
From January to August this year, over 600 tons of mooncakes, valued at approximately 47 million yuan, were exported under Zhongshan Customs' supervision. Traditional Cantonese-style varieties, such as lotus seed paste with salted egg yolk, accounted for roughly 90% of the total.
Yifeng Food Co is one of Zhongshan's leading mooncake exporters. This year, the company newly launched a low-sugar, low-oil fruit sorbet mooncake with a refreshing, sorbet-like texture, which has received a favorable market response.
In addition to traditional overseas markets, the company has broadened its market reach this year by exporting mooncakes to Curacao and Panama for the first time.
